Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum part-14C: Rune basics.

I based all the Runeshapers but I forgot to take a wip shot of the bases so the first pic you see is actually from the first unit of runeshapers I finished last month. The idea is the same I take some Garden mulch bark and stick it to the base, then use a piece of wire as the support for the spell effect of the ground being ripped up and flung. I tried to do a few more interesting ideas for the new lot to keep it interesting. let me know what you think.

May have gone a bit over board with a few of these. One of the good things about taking pics is it picks up everything. One of the bad things about taking pics is it picks up everything. A few bits to cleen up on the flesh it would seem.

These are for gaming so as I said I wasn't overly fussy but I will do a little bit more finishing touches on some of these guys,

Still need to do snow and grass on the base but  I like where they are going atm.

This is the UA for the bushwackers. Didn't think they needed their own blog so just chucked em in here.

Anyway hope you enjoy. Feel free to comment.

Cheers

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum part-14b: Painting Runes

I've tried to paint these guys with a formula similar to a favourite painters of Ado's. he mainly paints Starwars minis but its a good formula to use. If I find the guys name I'll drop a link in somewhere. Anyway he paints in 5 steps.
1. Prep and under coat.
2. Base coat
3. Shade (Washes etc)
4. Highlights
5. All the details.

So the last post was step 1. In this post is steps 2-4. I forgot to take photos at the base coat stage so really you will only see steps 3 and 4.

Anyway here are a few pics to peruse.

This is step 3 with base coat and washes

I wasn't to careful at this point with the wash or the base coat. I did a little clean up work but I was interested with speed over neatness.

I use 2 or 3 washes in tis step. The first is a very watered down wash that is applied all over and each subsequent layer is thicker and darker but applied to the recesses only.

Step 4. Hightlighting

I used the base coat for the most part to highlight each section. I usually use a slightly lighter version of the color for the base coat as the wash will usually darken it quite a bit.

Next step is basing and a few finishing touches. If you saw my last lot of Runeshapers you know what to expect for the base.

Cheers.

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum part-14a: The runes take shape.

Last time I showed a unit of Runeshapes. I did a bit of work on the bases but the rest was straight forward with no mods at all.

So as some of you know I don't like all my minis looking the same so for the other 3 units I mixed up the bits a little.

Here's a look of what I've done before I put paint on them.

I had to make a mould of the bald head as it was pretty much destroyed when I removed it.
I have a few ideas in mind to show the spell effect they have.
I will mix the units up a bit better so all the trolls don't have the same head or body in each unit.

And here is a quick peek of the new unit attachment for the troll bush wackers. The mortar was a prick to put together as I couldn't use super glue.

Anyway let me know what you think so far.

Cheers
